Ansen Wounded Face is a board-certified physician assistant with over a decade of experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, primary care, and orthopedics. Since earning his Master's Degree at A.T. Still University in 2014, he has cared for patients across hospital, outpatient, private-practice and Indian Health Service settings - driven by a commitment to evidence-based treatment and culturally respectful care for Native American communities.
He recently served as an orthopedic physician assistant at Phoenix Indian Medical Center — the hospital where he was born — where he managed a high-volume joint injection clinic treating thousands of patients each year. Across his career he has served Native patients and tribal communities throughout the nation.
Ansen is completing a research doctorate at A.T. Still University and is scheduled to receive his Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) degree in 2027. He is also completing a fellowship in regenerative medicine, with studies spanning interventional radiology, oncology, genetics, and stem cell therapy.
Serving the people of MHA Nation has been his dream since he became a physician assistant in 2014. He is a child of a Waterbuster. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing basketball or golf. He remains grateful to Martha Hunter, who told him to “Go and learn and come back to help our people.”
